How to diagnose a computer not turning on

  • Check connections & Display (Monitor cable Displayport, HDMI, VGA) Ensure cable is plugged in through the GPU if applicable (Discrete Graphics Processing Unit) (Video Card) Is the monitor working? Check for signs of power (Is there noise?) If not, check power cable and power source

If the above still do not present a PC post review the below

Or contact a technician

  • Check for hardware failures Look for visible damage externally and internally Review motherboard error codes or beep codes

  • Clear CMOS Use button or remove motherboard battery while PC is unplugged
